On Friday, March 3, 2023 Adeline Weola Henk (Dietert) beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother joined her family in Heaven at the age of 90.

She was born on November 10, 1932 in Guadalupe county to Ottmar and Linda (Zipp) Dietert. As a child growing up on her daddy's family farm in Seguin, Adeline and her family farmed corn and cotton. She would often reminisce about taking a mule drawn wagon to help her father take cotton to the gin. She graduated from Navarro High School where she excelled in math while playing basketball and softball.

She met her Sweetheart Roger Lee Henk at a dancehall, and after a few twirls they were married on August 26, 1950 in Geronimo at Friedens United Church of Christ. They were blessed with two children Brenda (Susie) and Michael. After a long day of farming and ranching on the Henk family farm, were they lived for 10 years before building their dream home in 1959 in New Braunfels, you would find them out on a dance floor in Gruene or Clear Springs. After they moved to New Braunfels in 1960, Adeline used her skills as a Butcher at the Kraft slaughter house for 10 years. She then cherished and enjoyed her time as a homemaker and part-time bookkeeper for her husband Roger. Sadly, after only 34 years of marriage Roger passed away in 1985. Adeline cherished her Omie time with her granddaughters, Leanne and Erin, summers filled with Vacation Bible School at Friedens, watching the "Price Is Right," playing dominoes and spoiling her "girls" with a back-to-school shopping spree at JC Penny's. Cheering them on at their basketball games and saving every newspaper clipping she could of them, was one of her favorite pass times. During that time Adeline and Brenda still ranched and raised catfish, while Adeline also worked full time at Comal Elementary school in the cafeteria as a cook. Where she one day she found a 50 lb. bag of rice and made her Famous Sweet Rice for the children and staff. You would often hear a request for it after that. She retired from Comal ISD after 12 yrs. of service. Throughout all of her life events she still found time to make cookies and Kool-aid for Brenda and Michael or Leanne and Erin and friends.

In her retirement, you would find Adeline and Brenda taking road trips and tours all over Texas. Her volunteering continued throughout by serving the Friedens's United Church Of Christ events such as church dinners and running the Country Store  during the Fall Festival. Adeline also volunteered at the Comal County Fair Association for over 40 years serving in the youth shows and as Chairman of the Agriculture Division. As busy as she would be at the fair, Adeline would always make time to go watch the Big Yellow John Deere tractor with Michael pulling past the finish line, in the Antique Tractor Pull.

Adeline was a proud member of the Henk family. She would never miss a 4th of July family reunion, celebrated with German food, BBQ (she made her own sauce) dominoes, and lots of fellowship, love and laughter. Adeline loved to fill her days talking about Roger and the bridges he built over the Guadalupe River throughout the state of Texas.

Adeline was known for cooking. Fam favorites were her famous Apple Crisp, Icebox cookies, Cinnamon & Sugar fried doughnuts, Okra Gumbo, and Sweet Rice (of course). As an avid deer hunter in her early years with Roger, sausage making along with pannas and molasses was just another skill up her sleeve that she enjoyed doing throughout her years.  Always "The Host with the Most" you could count on Adeline having dried sausage sandwiches and cookies at her house to snack on.  Adeline enjoyed taking pictures. She was always shuffling around, taking pictures to add to her many photo albums.

She was affectionately known by many names: "Mom", "Momma", "Sister", "Oma", "Omie", "Great Omie".

Daughter Brenda Henk; Son Michael (Cyndi) Henk; Sister Linda Dietert; Granddaughters, Leanne Ethridge (Stephen) and Erin Laffere (Clint) and her Great Grandchildren Wyatt and Emma Ethridge; Grady and Molly Laffere. Step-grandchildren Jennifer Hoots-Kallies (Geoff) and Sara Hoots-Vilchitski (Rich) Step-great grandchildren Laila, Jaden, Maxwell Kallies and Emmy and Ben Vilchitski. Also survived by sister-in-law Annie Henk; sister-in-law Betty (Albert) Jandt, brother-in-law Edward (Doreen) Henk and numerous loved nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral is planned for Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Friedens United Church of Christ, 2555 Friedens Church Rd. Seguin TX 78155.

A graveside service will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Clint Laffere, Stephen Ethridge, Wyatt Ethridge, Cody Dietert, Tanner Henk and Cameron Henk.

A Celebration of Life with refreshments will follow after the graveside service at Friedens United Church of Christ Fellowship hall.
