Alissa Mikal
Dyste
May 21, 1976 — May 1, 2023
Alissa Mikal Dyste, a woman who approached life with the perfect blend of faith, kindness, and humor, passed away on May 1, 2023 in New Braunfels, TX after a fiercely fought battle with cancer. Alissa was born in Devlis Lake, North Dakota to Micheal and LaVonne Dyste, on May 21, 1976.
In an effort to find warmer weather, Alissa, along with her family, moved to San Antonio, TX in 1983. Another move to Spring Branch, TX found Alissa attending, and graduating from, Smithson Valley High School, where she was a cheerleader, choir member, and part of the theater arts program. After highschool, Alissa attended Southwest Texas University, and graduated with a bachelors degree in Theater Arts.
Through many of her adult years, Alissa worked at Holt Contracting, where she managed the office and welding shop. Alissa also worked from home as an independent medical billing professional
Alissa's pride and absolute joy was her daughter Harmony Mikal, who she welcomed into the world in January of 2013. Alissa was an amazing mommy, and would have done anything for her baby girl. The battle she fought against her cancer was driven by her desire to be able to spend as much time with Harmony as she possibly could. Alissa cherished every single day she had with Harmony.
Alissa was a phenomenal singer, guitar player, and songwriter. Her voice was a gift to anyone who had the privilege of hearing her sing. She loved listening to live music as much as she loved playing, and spent many hours with dear friends doing just that. Alissa also enjoyed dabbling in photography, where she had a natural talent.
Alissa is survived by her heartbroken family: Daughter, Harmony Dyste; Parents, Micheal and LaVonne Dyste (Pecka); Sisters: Shannon Holt and Katrina Oldham; Brothers-in-Law: Eric Holt and David Oldham; Nephews and Nieces: Morgan, Addison, Gavin, and Isabella Holt, and Mila, Weston, and Collin Oldham, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her family will forever cherish the laughter, love, and memories they shared with Alissa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels with Dustin Lien officiating. Burial will follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in New Braunfels.
In lieu of flowers, Alissa's family is asking that you consider donating to the GoFundMe that has been set up for Harmony's future.
Alissa Mikal Dyste will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her kindness, humor, and gentle spirit will live on in the lives she touched, and her legacy will be one of optimism, courage, and a true love for life. Rest in Peace, Sweet Alissa.
