Obituary

Allison Mary Marlene Chastain, loving wife and mother, was welcomed into Heaven to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on September 18, 2023.

Allison was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Marlene Bruney, sister-in-law, Janette Whitney and surviving husband, Troy.

Allison is survived by her husband, Robert and son, Clayton; brother, Joe Bruney & sister-in-law, Lori Bruney; sisters-in-law, Barbara Brown & husband, Lloyd, Susanne Bice, Lynette Navar & husband, John; brothers-in-law, Fred Chastain Jr & wife, Dorothy; 8 nephews; 6 nieces, and 26 great-nieces and nephews.

Allison was born September 7, 1958, to Edward and Marlene Bruney in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved Jesus! Her last vocation, which she was very passionate about, was with Gruene Tree Learning Center at Gruene United Methodist Church working with pre-K children. On October 8, 1977 Allison blessed Robert by marrying him at the First United Methodist Church in Aransas Pass, Texas. On March 21, 1997, Allision and Robert welcomed Clayton to their family. Clayton immediately became the focus of Allison's life and he's a testimony to her devotion.

Robert first saw Allision at the Dairy Queen in Aransas Pass in 1973 and was struck by her beauty which, he learned, was as prevalent in her heart as it was in her appearance. They became high school sweethearts, and their marriage of 46 years is a testament to their love and devotion. Robert is quick to testify to the Lord saving him from himself by Allision's influence.

Allison loved Jesus! Allison also loved her family and friends, which was starkly evident by their outpouring of love and support during her life and her recent illness. She loved her time with friends, travel, celebration of holidays, and going on outings. She was known for her quick smile, loving demeanor, and great sense of humor. Her eyes were a light which could lift you up or, on the odd occasion, let you know she was less than pleased.

Memorial Services will be held at Gruene United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1:00pm with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations sent to Gruene United Methodist Church (memo line:  Allison Chastain Memorial Playground) 2629 E. Common St, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
