Barbara Annette Wilkerson, nee Black, 85, entered the gates of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 11, 2021. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 23, 1936. Beloved wife of the late Chester A. Wilkerson, Jr.; daughter of the late Ollie Ozell Ritchey, and sisters to the late Shirley Rae Strautman and Verna Mae Rice. Survivors include her brother, Gregory Ritchey of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Brian Finlay of Spring Branch, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Jimmy Sendejo of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter Chelsea Ellyce Buchanan and her husband Brett Buchanan of Dothan, Alabama; grandsons Zane Wilkerson and Colton Sendejo; Great Grandchildren Daniel Beckett Buchanan, Drew Bennett Buchanan, Cohen Ellyce Buchanan; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and cherished friends.

Barbara was known throughout her life as a woman who brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother and great grandmother. Barbara loved to see others happy, sharing her quick wit and artfully telling great stories about her life, experiences and even a few hijinks from her younger days in San Antonio, Schertz, and Panama. She was kind to all and lovingly opened her heart and her home to those she loved, caring first for their needs before her own. While Barbara will be deeply missed by those who love her, they will cherish the memories and know their lives were enhanced by her. The family is blessed by the assurance she is well and dancing in the presence of God. A missing part will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind, but they rejoice in the promise they will see her again.

The family extends special thanks to Missy from Embrace Hospice, the Pearson family, Pam Underwood, Lori Lorati, Sherry Roach and Sarah Mattingly for their love, gracious support and generosity of time spent with Barbara and the family.

Memorial Services and celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 13085 FM 306, Canyon Lake, Texas 78133, on Tuesday, December 21 at 11 a.m., with Rev. David O. Rice officiating.
