Betty Ellen Salge Ormond, a lifelong resident of New Braunfels, went to be with her Lord on Feb 24, 2022 at the age of 82.  Betty was born on January 14, 1940 in New Braunfels, Texas to Hilmar Carl Salge and Leona Wenzel Salge.  On May 5, 1968, she married Orville Gene Ormond, her husband of 40 years until his passing in 2008.

As a member of First Protestant Church, she taught Sunday school for over 30 years.  She worked for USAA for 45 years and was the longest tenured employee of USAA when she retired in 2003.  She was a member of the VFW Post 7110 Ladies Auxiliary and a 70-year member of Herman Sons.

She is survived by her children, Robert Ormond and wife Julie, and Karla Ormond and Edgar Salas; Granddaughter Ruby; Sister-in-law Gloria Salge; Brother-in-law Harlan Guenther; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday March 2 from 5-7pm.  Funeral services will be Thursday March 3 at 10am at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
