Obituary

Bouk de Vries Jobsis was born to Gerrit & Jantje de Vries January 14, 1931 in Zegveld, the Netherlands. She died peacefully December 31, 2024 in Wimberley, Texas and previously resided in Houston for 50 years. Bouk AKA "Bee" had many passions including world cultures, humanitarian concerns, history, art, and her docent work at the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences. She was a lifelong learner and studied Anthropology at the University of Houston. Additionally, she almost reached her goal of traveling to 100 countries.

Bouk was an amazing mother, grandmother and homemaker, bringing love & comfort to her family across three continents. She was fun, a Dutch Farm girl in her heart, a world traveler in her soul, a great conversationalist, and an anthropologist in her life approach. She was a bright light, courageous, expert bridge player, and gave to her community and world. Bouk was published in De Krant, a Dutch Canadian Newspaper, and in two book anthologies childhood survival in WWII in the Netherlands. In her careers she delivered 200 babies as a midwife in the Netherlands, worked as an LVN in the US, at the Berlitz School of languages, and as a translator.

She is survived by her daughters Janneke Jobsis Brown (Donald), Anna Jobsis Johnson (Scott), and her grandchildren Alexandra Nemeth & Dakota Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband AC Kees Jobsis & her grandson Nicholas Nemeth.

A memorial service will be held in Wimberley, TX at Alexis Pointe Assisted Living, on Saturday, January 25 at 10 a.m., followed by a reception time.
