Canyon Lake – Camilo G. Carranza, Jr., 74, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 3, 2021 at his home in Canyon Lake, Texas.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on November 18, 1946, in Mercedes, Texas, to the late Camilo V. and María Luisa Carranza.

Camilo graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School in 1966 and began a forty-one-year career working for the railroad starting with Southern Pacific Railroad and ending with Union Pacific Railroad. Along the way, he befriended many co-workers and made lifelong friends.

Camilo thoroughly enjoyed entertaining his family and friends with his smoked brisket, chicken quarters and turkey butts, watching old cowboy movies, and hanging out on his front porch.

Camilo is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Virginia L. Carranza. He is survived by his wife Lydia Carranza; two sons Caesar (Melissa) Carranza and Victor (Corina) Carranza; two daughters Yvonne (Armando) Oranday and Jessica (Ernesto Tanguma)Carranza; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

His siblings include Mary Alice (Guadalupe) Ibarra, Ricardo (Eva) Carranza, and David (Esther) Carranza. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels.

A Mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 with burial to follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in New Braunfels.
