Catherine Marie Grein, 76, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away on October 5, 2023, in Buda, Texas. She was born July 30, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa to John and Gladys (Holdorf) Wilson.

Cathy grew up in a loving family and was the youngest of three children. Some of her favorite activities growing up were spending time on the Mississippi river with family and friends. After moving to Long Beach, California to live with her cousin Judy, she met the love of her life a Navy sailor who was stationed in California. After a short few months of courtship the two married in Las Vegas before James was deployed to Vietnam. When James returned from deployment, he brought Cathy back to his home state of Texas. James and Cathy had two beautiful daughters Stephanie and Melissa Grein. They owned an accounting firm in New Braunfels for over twenty years, where they made so many wonderful friends in the community.

Cathy was vibrant and full of life. She was a devoted wife and mother. She always encouraged others to be kind, thoughtful, and strong. She was selfless in her actions and always put others first. Before her husband passed away in 1997, she loved working in the yard together and grilling steaks out on the back patio during the summers. Summers were filled with beach trips and road trips as a family. She also enjoyed many girls' trips with her two daughters to the hill country. Many stories were shared, lots of laughs, and a few spontaneous dance parties. She also loved to travel with family and enjoyed seeing and experiencing new places. She was an amazing soul and brought so much brightness into this world. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie and Melissa Grein, her sister Sally Hanson and brother Steve Hansen, cousins Judy and Jack Phillips, nephews John and Aaron Hanson, and grandson Titan Wilson.

Joined in eternal life with her husband, James H. Grein.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels. The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels.
