HENRICKSEN, CHARLES RICHARD (RICK) passed away January 11 ^th , 2021 in Middleton, WI.  Born 1952 in Racine, Wisconsin, Rick is survived by his sister Susan Thompson (Bob). Predeceased by his parents Charles E. (Chuck) and Joy M. (Berry) Henricksen formerly of Racine, WI.

Rick was among the first to graduate from Racine's Jerome I. Case High School in 1970, having previously attended the Bartlett School (on Old Spring Street), West Ridge Elementary, and Starbuck Junior High Schools.  Rick was one of six selected from Case High School to attend 1969 Badger Boys State in Ripon, Wisconsin, where he was elected municipal judge.  He was circulation manager and an editor for the Just In Case student newspaper, which elected him to membership in Quill & Scroll in 1970.  With other Case students, Rick participated in the 1970 Model United Nations in Madison, Wisconsin, representing the United Arab Republic.  A young pianist and instrumentalist, Rick studied piano for eleven years, initially with Marian Rasmussen formerly of Racine and later with Grant Malme at the Racine College of Music; he performed two years with the Racine All-City Orchestra and competed alone and in groups locally and at State level in annual music contests.

In 1974 Rick was graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois with a bachelor's degree in Economics.  While at Wheaton, Rick was Business Manager for the Daily Record student newspaper and Kodon literary magazine; he performed with the Concert Choir for a season and studied music privately with Prof. Gladys Christiansen; he was Private First Class with the College's Reserve Officers Training Corps which awarded him a Leadership Scholarship in 1973; he studied in the International Study Program in The Hague, Netherlands in 1973 and was on the Dean's List.  Rick went on to graduate study in business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1975 where he was a member of the International Association of Students in Business and Commerce (AIESEC) and the Badger Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Selected in 1976 as one of 17 business students to participate in internships, Rick worked six months with the Badische Anilin- und Soda-Fabrik (BASF) in Ludwigshafen, Germany in cost accounting.  While in Germany, he participated in an International Youth Congress in Berlin representing the United States.

Upon return from Germany, Rick joined the staff of Calvary Lutheran Chapel & Student Center, a Missouri Synod campus ministry at Madison.  For more than three years he directed the music program, taught classes and assisted in managing the ministry's finances.  From 1980-85, Rick was Assistant Business Manager for Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, also affiliated with the Missouri Synod, and helped in the on-going rebuilding of the Seminary following the much-publicized Walk-out of 1974.  Rick was Director of the Adult Christian Education Foundation's Yahara Center near Madison in 1985-6 and worked as Business Manager/Controller for Madison's Magna Publications, Inc. ( In Business magazine) from 1986-91.  Rick served as Business Manager/Controller for New Concepts Foundation, Inc. in Middleton, Wisconsin from 1991-94.  Rick performed with the University's Choral Union from 1986-91 and the Madison Symphony Chorus in 1992.

After moving to Washington, D.C. in 1994, Rick worked in accounting and finance for not-for-profit educational organizations, most recently as Grants Accountant for the American Council for Collaboration in Education and Language Study near Dupont Circle and was active in the Foggy Bottom/West End Citizen's Association.  Rick retired and moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1998 where he cared for his parents.  He spent summers in Laguna Niguel, California but returned to Madison/Middleton, Wisconsin after his parents' deaths.  Rick participated in publications throughout his life, a connection to his relatives in the newspaper business.  Rick was an avid fan of music.  He used his vocal, and keyboard talents in worship of the God he so loved.  He also delighted his friends with his "Concerts in his Condo" on his mother's beloved grand piano.  Rick's life was rooted in the Bible and he shared his insight through personal discussions and small group bible studies.  A member of various churches over the years, Rick will be buried in the family plot at Cranes Mill Cemetery, Cranes Mill, TX.
