Charles Roberson passed into the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, October 27, surrounded by his family.

Charles was born to Marcus Guy Roberson and Carmen Ercelle Roberson in Hill County, Texas, on April 9, 1933. He was born at home by way of a midwife during the Great Depression. Charles was raised on a farm and worked the land with his father at a very early age. During this time, the values of faith, family, and hard work were instilled in him, which he exemplified all his life. Charles attended a small country school in Union Bluff and graduated from Hillsboro High School at 16. Charles worked his way through college and received a Master's degree in Chemistry from North Texas State College (now North Texas University).

Charles served his country in the U.S. Army as a Medic for two years. After being honorably discharged, he taught chemistry for two years at Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas. Charles worked for FESCO Ltd. in Alice, TX, for 43 years as their Chief Chemist. During his time at FESCO Ltd., Charles was instrumental in building and designing innovative petroleum engineering laboratories across the state. Charles' hard work and dedication were instrumental in the growth of FESCO Ltd. and left a lasting legacy on the energy industry in South Texas.  Charles loved his profession and during his retirement would share stories of the work and the people that meant so much to him. Charles always sought opportunities to serve his profession and community and was a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity, the American Chemical Society, and the Optimist Club.

You would never find Charles without his camera throughout his travels. He was an avid photographer and always took the opportunity to document some of the world's most beautiful locations through photography. Charles would share this passion by giving presentations of his trips to the meetings of the Optimist Club in Alice, Texas.

Charles was an active member of Freedom Fellowship Church, where he worshiped and served the Lord. He was also a member of the German American Society and an associate member of the German Choir (New Braunfels Gemischter Chor Harmonie), which came to his home for fellowship (Gemütlichkeit) every Monday evening for several years. Charles loved his friends and would meet weekly with his "Amigos" lunch group.

Charles and Maria met in Alice, Texas, where they were friends for many years. They were married in New Braunfels, Texas in 2007. During their time together, they shared many adventures, traveling to Europe and locations across the U.S. In his later years, Charles loved going to his home away from home at the Season Three Vineyard near Briggs, Texas, where he could enjoy the Texas Hill Country with his family.

Charles exemplified what it means to be a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. The love he shared with his family will always be in our hearts. We will love you forever.

Charles was preceded in death by his spouses, Jeanette Roberson and Margaret Roberson; sister, Marjorie Tomlinson, and brother-in-law Robert Tomlinson,stepson, Leonard Stanford, step grandson, Justin.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Greenwell-Roberson; sister Lorraine Roberson; cousin Dennis Johnson; stepchildren Ellen Hicks, John (Jan) Stanford, Michelle (Robert) Sheffield, Rene Harper, Marion (John) Vance, and Brian (Tracy) Greenwell and step grandkids John Charles, Steven (Pamela), Jeanette, Joshua, Aleasha, Shariah, (Geoffrey), Kimberley (Josh), Kyle (Daniella), Kelsey, Austin, Leah (Ryan), Macy, Christopher and Kaitlyn.

A celebration of life will be held at Freedom Fellowship Church located at 410 Oak Run Point, New Braunfels Texas, on November 14th, at 2pm.
