Christian "Chris" Johannes Foerster was born to William & Helena (Driez) Foerster on January 9, 1944 in Germany.

He passed from this life on June 14, 2023 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 79.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, Christopher Robert Foerster and Shaun Paul Foerster.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor Foerster of New Braunfels; son, Scott Christian Foerster (Monica V. Martinez), and grandson, Shaun Timothy Christian Foerster.

In 1953, at 9 years of age, Chris and his mother Helena immigrated to America from Germany, residing in New York City. Chris held several positions early in his life. As an American he felt a calling for more, he first joined the U.S. Marine Corps in which he served a few years and eventually changed branches to the U.S. Air Force, where he loyally served for 30 more years in Civil Affairs as an award-winning military photographer. In 1991, he opened his own photography studio located in Center Moriches, N.Y, named Hocus Phocus. After 10 years of business, Chris chose to sell the business and enjoy a well-deserved retirement.

In retirement, Chris kept up with photography as a hobby, but also enjoyed gardening, appearing on the cover of Newsday (a Long Island newspaper) for his ability to maintain a tropical garden on Long Island, N.Y. After a family tragedy, Chris and his beloved wife Eleanor become transplants in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. In New Braunfels, TX Chris continued his love of gardening, creating a beautiful and diverse ecosystem for the local wildlife which he revered so much. Not only did he love hand feeding his beloved deer who he named "Hot Lips" (after a character in MASH), he enjoyed watching the generations of does and bucks that followed and were fed by him. Along with the deer, Chris had several racoons that he hand-fed for years and was able to meet all of their offspring who grew to know and trust him. Last but not least of Chris's animal friends was the crazy love-struck road runner who Chris loved recording bringing "gifts" (dead lizards) to his indoor metal road runner figurines who never showed the same affection.

Chris's love for nature was only exceeded by his love of his friends and friends, which is what he will be remembered for. Chris and his wife Ellie loved to travel, going on many vacations throughout the years to Cancun where they made many friends over the years. One of the greatest joys Chris had was being a grandfather and sharing his love and wisdom. Recently, Chris enjoyed racing his scooter with his grandson Shaun. Christian will be remembered by many as an adoring husband, a great friend, caring father, and loving grandfather.
