Dan Lee Bindseil, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, went to his heavenly home on New Year's Eve 2025. Dan Lee was born in Bracken, Texas at his family's homestead on April 30, 1937 to Olivia and Albert Bindseil. He was baptized and confirmed at Bracken Methodist Church. As a child, he attended the Davenport School and graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1955. He was a true blue unicorn, and especially loved attending their football games or listening to them on the radio.

After high school, he enlisted in the National Guard, serving for nine years. On the weekends, his favorite pastime was dancing at the local dancehalls. This was fortunate because he met the love of his life, Carolyn Grimm, while at Gruene Hall. They were married on January 27, 1963 and would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary at the end of January 2026.

In 1964, Dan built his home with Melvin Heimer's help on his family's property where he grew up and lived his entire life. Dan and Carolyn raised their three children at their home on Bindseil Lane: Cheryl Bindseil Martin (James), Mark Bindseil, and Debbie Bindseil Tubbs (Brian). He treasured his role as Papa to his grandchildren: Courtney Martin Webb (Evan), Michael Martin (Angela), Kendall Tubbs, Reagan Tubbs, and great grandchildren, Lily and Cooper Webb.

His early jobs included working for Wayne Feeds in Bracken and delivering for RC Cola in San Antonio. He later became a USDA inspector, but eventually left to spend more time farming and ranching. Soon after, he established DLB Egg Farm, distributing eggs to grocery stores, bakeries, and restaurants. In 2005, he shifted to delivering nuts, salsas, and pickles, finally retiring in Fall 2025.

Dan loved deer hunting and making sausage afterward with the whole family. He enjoyed spending time at his Fredericksburg property. He was a member of the Bracken Bowling Club and bowled 9-pin there for many years with friends and family. He was passionate about collecting tractors, reading tractor magazines, and attending tractor shows and auctions. His favorite drinks were chocolate milk and Dr. Pepper. Attending his children's and grandchildren's school functions, participating in their hobbies, and watching them play sports was a priority for him. Dan was an amazing domino player, usually beating anyone that challenged him.

Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Olivia, and father, Albert. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, three children and their spouses, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. We are saddened by this loss, but are forever grateful for having been blessed by Dan's love. He instilled in his family an appreciation for the country way of life. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org. Visitation will be Thursday, January 15th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, January 16th at 11:00 am at First Protestant Church in New Braunfels, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall, and burial at the Bracken Community Cemetery.
