David H. Beene, of Bulverde, Texas died March 18, 2023 and is now reunited with his wife of almost 65 years, Bettie.
David was born in Sweetwater, Texas on April 25, 1937. He was a graduate of Comanche High School, and Baylor University. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Bettie, he began a career in retail with Sears Roebuck in Waco before moving back to Comanche to become Vice President of Higginbotham Brothers; completing a successful stint with Higginbotham's he moved on to become President and General Manager of Alamo Lumber Company headquartered in San Antonio. When he "retired" from Alamo, he went back to Comanche yet again to take part in operations at Gore Brothers, then later moved on to take over as President of Promised Land Dairy in Floresville, from which he eventually retired for good. Even though he had a busy career, he was civic-minded and served on the Comanche School Board and was a member of Kiwanis and a deacon in the Baptist church. He also served as a Director in the Comanche National Bank, and was on the Board of Directors at Baylor's Hankamer School of Business.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Irene Beene of Comanche, and his brother, Jerry Tom Beene of Dallas.
He is survived by a son, Jerry Scott Beene and wife, Johnna of Bulverde; his daughter, Tiffany May and husband Jeff, also of Bulverde and grandchildren, Bailey Hubbert, Brady Beene, Zachary May and Jacob May, and great-granddaughter, Sage Hubbert.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship in Bulverde;
a graveside service will follow on March 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Gardens of Memory in Comanche, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Aspen Hospice (San Marcos) and Hope Hospice (New Braunfels).
