David Lee Rutherford passed away August 19, 2024 at the age of 71.

David was a man of wit, a man of passion, a man full of laughs, and remarkable kindness. He will be greatly missed.

David was born to Robert Campbell & Eleanor Mary (Geyser) Rutherford in Sewickley, PA. on May 11, 1953. They preceded him in death as well as his nephew, Richard Perkins.

David's talents and passions were many. He loved music of all kinds: Bluegrass, Classic Rock, Country & Texan artists. He loved live music and was often found at Gruene Hall, no matter who was playing that night.

He was also an avid sports fan especially during the "glory days" for the Steelers in the 70's, and he travelled back to Pittsburgh as much as possible to attend Steeler games with this brother, Bruce.

David graduated from Coraopolis High School in 1971 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Business in 1975. He was a car salesman in both Pennsylvania and Texas for more than 40 years, most recently at a Lincoln dealership in New Braunfels. He retired from working three years ago. In his later years he began golfing and played in a social league each week.

David is survived and loved by his siblings, Robert Bruce Rutherford & wife, Debra Lynn of Moon Township, PA and Lynn Weirich & husband, Bill of Hondo, TX, his niece and nephews, Pamela Allison Rutherford, Douglas Bruce Rutherford & wife, Gail, Robert Doss Perkins & wife, Liz, Jeff Weirich & wife Katherine, and Megan Weirich Leeth & husband, Justin. He is also survived by his grand nieces and nephews, Ryan Kate, Hayes, Birdie and James.

His family will remember him as the life of any family gathering with his wicked sense of humor, smiles, and sincere encouragement.

David shared his smiles and support freely to all who knew him, and to many who didn't know him.

His contagious smile will be missed and he will be remembered as the man that quietly strived to leave things better and brighter than before he entered.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 6, 2024

at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas with Pastor Polly Angle officiating.
