Donald T. Blackwell

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away February 13, 2023, at the age of 80 in San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Marion Nunnelee, his parents Curtis and Alice Blackwell and his brothers Buddy Blackwell and Richard Blackwell.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ann Blackwell, his grandsons Calvin Blackwell and Taylor Nunnelee, his stepchildren Regina Wakefield, Janell Clark, Lisa Leininger and Kenny Beckett and other grandchildren - D'Andre Wakefield, Ariana Wakefield, Justice Wakefield, Haley Leininger, Briana Miller, Jordan Holtz and 3 great grandchildren.  Don is also survived by his sister-in-law Virginia Blackwell, and several nieces and grand nieces and nephews.

Don honorably served his country in the US Navy and received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.  Don retired from the Civil Service and then went to work at Dell Computer in Austin.

Don loved the Lord and was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church. When not watching John Wayne or listening to Elvis, he loved driving his prized 1930 Ford Model A "Anabelle" on the backroads of New Braunfels. Don was extremely proud that his beloved Ford Truck has over 450,000 miles.

He enjoyed the simple things in life like mowing the yard, barbecuing, attending birthday parties and holiday gatherings, anything as long as he was surrounded by family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Harmony Baptist Church in New Braunfels located at 1472 S State Highway 46, New Braunfels TX 78130.

Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. (There will be a viewing prior to the services from 9:30 am – 10:30 am).
