Born August 15, 1936 in Merced, California was called home to Heaven on March 15, 2023 in New Braunfels, Texas, where she resided for 3 years. There will be a celebration of life on April 1, 2023

Donna was preceded in death by her husband George Oswell of San Diego, California, parents Warren and Mordella Barcus of Fresno, California, and daughter Christine Defer of Sylmar, California. She is survived by several children; James Defer, Karen Connelly, Teresa Torres, Raymond Torres, Casey Torres and Tina Costanza, as well as many grandchildren; Chris Defer, Joeleen Defer, Erica Schadegg, Doug Torres, Keir and Keri Byer, Candice Purcell and Colton Costanza. Donna also had 4 great grandchildren, Lucas and Jamison Torres, and Zeppelin and Zoey Schadegg.

Donna Mae was a mother of many children, some hers and some not hers, but she loved them all. She had a great love of cooking and gardening, as well as collecting things big and small. She loved to decorate and was a master of all things when it came to Christmas, her favorite holiday. There could never be enough Christmas trees, you would find one in every room. She loved to have her family around her at the holidays and there was always a house full of us.

Our Mom was full of charm and quick wit, and could fill a room with laughter after a good one liner. People loved her everywhere she went, and could easily make you feel at home. Her favorite song was "It's a Wonderful World" by Louie Armstrong, that song is most definitely the theme song of her life.

"I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom for me and you, and I Think to myself, what a wonderful world. I see skies of blue, and clouds of white, the bright blessed day, the dark sacred night, and I think to myself what a wonderful world. The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky, are also in the faces of people going by. I see friends shaking hands, saying how do you do, they're really saying I love you. I hear babies cry, I watch them grow, they'll learn much more than I will ever know, and I think to myself, what a wonderful world. OOH Yes!!!

We love you mom, we will miss you and your great pearls of wisdom. Until we meet again, may peace be with us.
