Dorothy Waldo, 88, of Canyon Lake, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2026.

Dorothy was born on June 27, 1937, in Alta, Iowa, to Frank Schmitt and Blanche Cockburn. She grew up on the family farm, where she shared countless adventures and cherished memories with her siblings. Those early years helped shape the strong, loving, and resilient woman she would become.

Dorothy dedicated her early life to education as an elementary school teacher, where she touched the lives of many children with patience, kindness, and encouragement. She had a lifelong love of learning and enjoyed spending quiet hours reading and working on puzzles. Above all else, Dorothy loved her family fiercely and found her greatest joy in the people she loved most.

Working side by side with her beloved husband, Frank Waldo, the two built a life centered on hard work, love, and adventure. Together they traveled, created lasting memories, and eventually retired to enjoy the peaceful life they cherished at Waldo Mountain. One of Dorothy's greatest joys was sitting by the window, marveling at the wildlife and the beauty of the peaceful world around her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Waldo.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Armstrong and husband Kurt; her grandchildren, Roxi Old and husband Patrick, Nikki Armstrong, and Mason Armstrong; and her great-grandchildren, Riley and Ollie Old. She is also remembered fondly by extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit.

Dorothy will be remembered for her caring heart, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her presence brought comfort and steadiness to those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A private family remembrance will be held in her honor.
