Edgar Paul Jonas, age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, in New Braunfels, TX.

Paul was born on February 13, 1954, to Edgar William Jonas and Susie Jimenez in Austin, TX. He graduated from McCallum High School in Austin in 1972. While working in the roofing business, he traveled the regional rodeo circuit riding bucking bronco and competing in team roping. He met his wife, Jamie Marie Imber, at a dance hall in Austin and they were married August 12, 1978. They bought a farm in Georgetown, TX where they had their first son, James Randal Jonas. Paul went on to graduate from the School of Engineering at the University of Texas in December, 1987. His final exam was interrupted by the birth of his second son, Kyle Michael Jonas. Two years later, Paul and Jamie welcomed their daughter, Taylor Marie Jonas, to the family.

Paul had many hobbies throughout his life, including gardening, ballet, carpentry, amateur body building, competing in triathlons, and cooking delicious meals for the family. Above all, he had an immense sense of pride in his children. From their sporting events to graduations, he was always present and nothing made him more pleased than seeing his children do well.

After an extensive career, he retired and became a personal trainer at Gold's Gym and Das Rec where he got to do the two things he loved- talk with people and exercise.

Paul is preceded in death by his father Eddie, mother Susie, and sister Lura Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jamie Marie Jonas, his brother John Jonas and wife Diane of Beaulaville, NC, his son James Randal Jonas and wife Brittney of New Braunfels, TX, son Kyle Michael Jonas and wife Katherine of Nashville, TN, daughter Taylor Marie Jonas and husband Andrew Young of Voorhees, NJ, and five handsome grandsons, Aidan, Talon, Bishop, James, and Hutch, with a sixth grandson on the way.

The family would like to thank their family and friends who supported them throughout the years, including Dr Randall Jacks for his guidance through this journey, to Visiting Angel Jeanie De La Cruz, and Mercy House for their compassionate care in these final months. Paul loved and was loved by his extended family, nieces, nephews and cousins, who enjoyed his quick wit and storytelling. He had a love for learning new things, connecting with people, and a joyful sense of humor that will be missed. We carry him with us.
