Edith Taylor Winkler passed to heaven on January 23, 2023, at her home in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 101.  Mrs. Winkler resided in New Braunfels from 1978 when she married Max K. Winkler, a former Counselman and Mayor of New Braunfels.

Mrs. Winkler was born on February 17, 1921,  and raised in Chilhowie, Virginia.  After graduating from Chilhowie High School and attending Marion College she married Robert W. Pendleton, Sr. in 1942.  Over the next 20 years she gave birth to three sons.  Robert W. Pendleton, Sr. was a career US Air Force veteran.  The Pendleton family lived in New Braunfels in 1953 and 1954, and later in Mississippi, California, Colorado, and Germany.

Mrs. Winkler was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church in New Braunfels and hosted many bible study groups for the church members.  During her marriage to Max C. Winkler, she and Max enjoyed travelling, deer hunting, and participating in activities with the New Braunfels Rotary Club including Wurstfest.

Mrs. Winkler's oldest son, Robert W. Pendleton, Jr. preceded her in death.  She was survived by her two other sons—William F. Pendleton and James T. Pendleton.   Mrs. Winkler was also survived by seven grandchildren including Steven Pendleton and Shawn Pendleton sons of Robert W. Pendleton, Jr, Deceased; William F. Pendleton IV, Russell O. Pendleton, and Robin L Hilling children of William F. Pendleton; Neal Pendleton and Jennifer Elbel children of James T. Pendleton; and twelve great grandchildren.    Mrs. Winkler was also survived by the three children of her deceased husband Max K. Winkler---Charles K Winkler, Max K. Winkler, Jr. and Marlena W. Schlather and their children and grandchildren.

The family will recieve friends on Friday, January 27 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels.  Services will take place at a later date in Virginia.
