Edward Allen Ambs, born June 4, 1942, in Saginaw, Michigan, passed peacefully into eternal life on April 9, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Otto Ambs and Alma (Koebke) Ambs, his sister, Kay (Ambs) Bhirdo, and his cherished daughter, Laurel Dean Ambs.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marcia; their son, Robert Ambs and his wife, MelRae; and their eight children: June De Hoyos (Zac), Marie Ervin (Austin), Ellie Ambs, Carolyn Ambs, Jonathan Ambs, Chloe Ambs, Caleb Ambs, and Travis Ambs. Ed was also the proud great-grandfather of two delightful little ones, Cora and Neomi De Hoyos. He leaves behind a wealth of loving family members in both Michigan and Texas.

For over three decades, Ed shared his talents as a chemical engineer at Dow Chemical. His love for Marcia was profound, and together they embarked on countless adventures in their RV. A dedicated father, Ed coached his children's baseball and soccer teams, and served as a Scout Leader, taking them to Philmont Scout Ranch in the New Mexico mountains.

A natural tinkerer, Ed enjoyed fixing things and always had a project underway. He had a deep passion for family genealogy and took great pleasure in helping others. Ed was deeply rooted in his community, faithfully serving at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Jackson through teaching, study, and service. His humanitarian spirit shone brightly when he traveled to Haiti to install water pumps and taught classes focused on Alzheimer's prevention.

As his health declined, Ed moved to New Braunfels to be closer to family, where he found comfort and joy in their presence. Despite battling dementia, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease, his love for music remained a constant source of comfort. He treasured time outdoors with his grandchildren and dogs, his bright blue eyes and warm smile continuing to light up the lives of those around him.
