Obituary

Florence Lee Billiter, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2022.

"Flo" was born January 30, 1935, in New Martinsville, WV to Henry and Margaret (Harter) Lasure. Flo and her husband, Lloyd Byrl Billiter, Sr., residents of New Braunfels, TX, were married for 69 years until his passing on November 30, 2021.

Flo was outgoing and social and made lifelong friends wherever she and Lloyd lived. They traveled throughout Europe during the years Lloyd was stationed in Germany, serving in the United States Army. After he retired, they lived in Albuquerque, Midland, San Antonio, Austin, and Houston.  She was an excellent hostess and homemaker, known for her entertaining. She was a talented baker and quilter. Flo loved her children and enjoyed being "Granny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kindness and her wonderful gift of conversation.

Flo passed away quietly at home with her daughter, Diana Everett, at her side, and son, Lloyd "Byrl" Billiter, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Billiter, Sr., and their daughter, Heather Heywood of New Braunfels. In addition, her parents, six brothers and one sister preceded her in death:  Earl Leasure, Bob Lasure, Willis Lasure, William Leasure, Kenneth Lasure, Larry Lasure, and Donna (Dee Dee) Horner.

She is survived by: her son, Lloyd "Byrl" Billiter, Jr. of New Braunfels; daughter, Diana Everett and her husband, Mark of Tyler; and son-in-law, Walter Heywood of New Braunfels. Her grandchildren are: Christopher (Gabrielle) Billiter of Tucson; Nicholas Everett of Tyler; Jonathan (Lela) Billiter of Fort Hood; Natalie (Derek) Dean of Austin; Lauren Heywood of New Braunfels; Luke Heywood of New Braunfels; and Lyndsey Heywood of New Braunfels. Her great-grandchildren are:  Everett Dean and Jaxon Billiter. Surviving family also includes: her sister, Mary Jo (James) Vredenburgh of Sergeant Bluff, IA; brother, John (Nancy) Lasure of New Martinsville, WV; and brother, Mike Lasure of New Martinsville, WV. In addition, she leaves behind many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers for their loving kindness to Flo, with a special thank you to Dr. Antonio Alvarado and nurse Melonie.

Visitation with the family will be on June 27, 2022, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels.

Flo will be lovingly laid to rest with her adoring husband of 69 years on June 27, 2022, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX, beginning at 2:00pm – together forever!
