Frederick Gus Reinarz was born to Fred and Gloria Reinarz on December 24, 1946, in New Braunfels, Texas. He passed away on August 14, 2023, at the age of 77.
He was survived by his wife, Cindy, sons Cole Reinarz and wife Marie, Clay Reinarz, and wife Melissa. Stepchildren Jayme, Zach, Mandie, and their spouses. Brother Gene Reinarz, wife Michele and sister Renee, husband Sam Kneuper. The joys of his heart were the ones that called him Opie, and who will miss him the most.
Deeply rooted in the New Braunfels Community, Gus' family was part of the original founders of New Braunfels, a fact of which he was very proud. He graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1965 and then went on to attend Sam Houston State University where he was a bull rider and a hell raiser.
Upon returning to New Braunfels, he worked for his father at, and then later owned, Guadalupe Gas Company. Gus was hard-working and fun-loving. He was an active community member and leader in the Comal County Fair Association. He spent countless hours with his sons raising and showing sheep. He was very successful and respected throughout the state sheep showing community.
Gus' passions were hunting, fishing, grilling, Aggie football and spending time with family. He was a good friend and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Cowboy – Patriot – One of a Kind
