Garland M.
Light
Dec 29, 1954 — Jun 18, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Garland M. Light, who passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 71 in Canyon Lake, Texas, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Ada, Oklahoma, on December 29, 1954.
Garland was a loving son, brother, brother in law, uncle, family member, church deacon, and friend whose kindness, strength, and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a generous heart, a caring spirit, and a gift for making others laugh.
After graduating from John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas, he attended Tarrant County College. He graduated with Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiological Technology.
With his older brother Bryan, he enjoyed hobbies of sky diving and canoeing in his younger years. He found joy in snow skiing with high school buddies at holiday time, & spending time with family and church friends. Whether sharing stories or simply being there when someone needed him, he made a lasting impact on those around him. His career path extended from being an entrepreneur, working as a MRI Technician, managing a river rafting & canoe business, & supervisor at a grocery market on the Guadalupe. He was very eclectic in his thinking but solidly grounded in his Christian faith. Garland was divorced.
He is survived by his older sister, Triesha Light Dix (Jerry Dix) of Mineral Wells, Tx, & sister in law, Ronnie Light of Midlothian,Tx. His cousins: Susan, Jamie, Bart, Nancy & Ann. His nieces: Desiree & Kerry. His nephew: Brad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Walter G Light & LeVae Light, & his older brother, Bryan Light.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the love that will remain with us always. Garland will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family wishes to express appreciations to Pastor Bill & Anita for their friendship, love, & guidance in Garland's life the last few years & his church family.
A Memorial Service will be held on July 26, 10:30 am, Grace Bible Church, Canyon Lake, Tx. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his life and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to:

May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him. His favorite verse in the last days was
2 Timothy 4:17: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
