Gary H. Brotze was born to Elmer & Cleora Brotze on November 24, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas. He passed peacefully on August 24, 2024, surrounded by devoted friends and family.

Gary was raised on a farm with his brother, Wayne, and attended Highlands High School where he was the president of the band. He attended Texas A&M University in 1962, where he completed both his undergraduate degree and veterinary school in only 5 years, graduating from A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1967. During this time, he played the trumpet in the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band and was a member of the Corps of Cadets. After graduation he served 2 years in the Army and then started his career as a veterinarian at a clinic in Universal City. Gary then started practicing at Creek View Veterinary Clinic in New Braunfels, Texas, in 1971 and was a working veterinarian until his passing. Gary had many passions throughout his life including piloting his plane (1976 Grumman Cheetah), 4-H, bowling, cycling, hiking, woodworking, watching Aggie football, and spending time with family. He was known for his kindness, compassion, and his unwavering desire to help those around him.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Terri Gregory Brotze; brother, Wayne; children, Paul & Scott, Kirsten & Becki; grandchildren, Grant, Calvin & Ava, Blake & Hailey; great-grandchild, Nolan; nephews, Matthew & Todd Brotze, Jason, Austen, Bryan & Nathan Fiala; and great-nephews & nieces.

A Visitation will be held at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX on Friday, August 30, 2024, 5:00 pm-7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at First Protestant Church in New Braunfels, TX on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00am.

Following the funeral service, there will be a graveside service and burial at Hill Country Memorial Gardens for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
