Gary was born on April 28, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas to Robert and "Dolly" Moeller. He graduated from LaSalle High School and went on to graduate from West Texas State, now West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. While at WT he was on the University bowling team, bowling being a Moeller family pastime. He loved to explore and backpacked across Europe. Following his time at WT, he met the love of his life Rose. Gary was committed to anything he started and everyone he loved. Gary was an accomplished musician and song writer. Following his time at WT, he served as lead guitarist and vocalist for the Stutz Bearkats whose members remain lifelong friends. He proudly worked for the City of San Antonio for 33 years, retiring as the Director of Information Services in 2005. During his tenure, he helped pioneer several projects that turned the City into a technological leader.

He is survived by his wife Rose Marie Moeller of 48 years; his two sons Jay (Kelly) Moeller and Brian (Conner) Moeller. His grandchildren are Morgan, Macy, David and Austen Moeller. He is also survived by his brother Bobby (Ginger) Moeller of San Antonio, Texas and numerous cousins.

Gary was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He went home to be with His Lord on September 17, 2022. He was kind, calming, and never compromising in his determination to do the right thing. Gary was an innovator throughout his life. From building technology systems, to building both his and his father's homes, to writing songs up the end of his life, Gary was brilliant. During his retirement years, he returned to his life passion for music. He wrote and co-wrote 150+ songs ranging from country music, his favorite trop rock and faith. He spent hours with his best friend and fellow "Salt Lifer" Rick Hoefel talking, writing, and playing music together. Many of his songs rose into the Top 10 Charts for Trop Rock including #1 song "Castles in the Sand." His final song, "God Never Gives Up" was written just a month before his passing which communicated his great love and faith in Jesus.

Visitation will be at Legacy Church in New Braunfels on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 5:00-6:00pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:00pm.

His Mass will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 11:00am at St. Mark The Evangelist in San Antonio off Thousand Oaks followed by a burial service at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Wounded Warriors Project in his name. A portion of every album Gary sold always went to this cause.
