Gilbert Barragan was was born to Alberto Ybarra Barragan and Victoria Rodriguez on February 14, 1948 in Comstock Texas.  He passed peacefully on October 14, 2024 in Fischer Texas.

Gilbert was very passionate about  geology and art.  He worked many years as both a geologist in the oil and gas industry and as art teacher.  He was also an accomplished artist.  He loved hiking and looking for fossils and arrowheads.  He loved watching  the birds and wildlife on his property.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Brenda Barragan, and his son Max Barragan.  He is survived by his sisters, Cathy Ohler,  Belia Saunders,  Lola DeHoyos, and Alicia Robertson; numerous  nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Lola.

The Life Celebration Service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio Texas on Monday,  October 28, 2024 at 11:15 am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers.
