Guswin Elbel was born to Gustav & Alwina (Kuebel) Elbel on June 27, 1941 in (Spring Branch) Comal County. He was laid to rest with the angels on August 30, 2026 in New Braunfels, TX.

Gus and Nancy married on September 18, 1961 and have been together for nearly 65 years. He began working for the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung in 1964 and later became the head pressman for many years until 2010. He was able to continue his passion of farming, ranching and raising cattle fully after retirement.

Gus is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irma Pinkney, Linda Preiss, Elvira Klein, Estella Kruse.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Elbel; son, Jeff Elbel, son, Bryan Elbel & wife Beverly; grandchildren, Kris, Kyle, Greg, Kim & Hope; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Kane, Kruz, Maverick & Jailey; sister, Cleora Hild; numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Doeppenschmidt in New Braunfels, Texas on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 10:00am. A procession will follow the funeral service to Comal Cemetery for burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Alzheimers/Dementia organization and Hope Hospice of New Braunfels.
