Harvey Conrads Soechting, 91, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Harvey was born on September 15, 1934, to Rudolph and Laura Conrads Soechting. On March 31, 1957, he married the love of his life, Edith Mae Voges Soechting. They first met at the American Legion in New Braunfels and built a wonderful life together over 69 years of marriage.

Harvey was known throughout Comal and Guadalupe counties for his strong work ethic and friendly personality. He worked for Dean Word Company before spending many years with Guadalupe Gas, where he became affectionately known as "The Gas Man" while delivering propane.

From 1964 to 1973, Harvey and Edith owned and operated the Canyon Drive-In, located where Hoity Toit stands today. It became a favorite stop for locals and visitors heading to the Guadalupe River, and Harvey was well known for his humor and his saying, "You can't get there from here without a six-pack."

Harvey loved spending time outdoors, whether tending his garden, hunting, fishing, or enjoying polka dancing with friends. His garden was one of his greatest joys, and each year he proudly shared its abundant harvest with family, friends, and neighbors. He also enjoyed organizing Greyhound bus trips to Houston Astros games, creating lasting memories and friendships along the way.

Above all, Harvey cherished his family and the community he called home. He never met a stranger and will be remembered for his generosity, quick wit, and the countless friendships he made throughout his life.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Hilmar and Ella Voges; his son, Brian Rae Soechting; his brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Charlene Soechting; and his brothers-in-law, Emmett Skolaut and Roger Snyder.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Edith Voges Soechting; his son, Carlton Soechting and wife, Trish; and his daughter, Tina Ahrens and husband, Pistol. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dustin and Alison Braune; Jory and Shea Soechting; Tyler and Mariah Denson; Tamara and John Corbier; and Cade Soechting and Brooke Brumley; his great-grandchildren, Liam and Kennedy Denson, Evelyn Soechting, Lucy Turner, Winnie Braune, and Jax and Karter Corbier; his sisters, Lorene Skolaut, Laverne Snyder, and Judy Johnston and husband, David; his brother, Raymond Soechting and wife, Trudy; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A Remembrance Service will be held at the American Legion, 410 W. Coll Street, New Braunfels, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hope Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
