Jacquelin (Jackie) L. Wersterfer went peacefully to her Heavenly Father on Monday, April 21, 2025 at home.

Jackie was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 15, 1930, to Jack and Genevieve (Powell) Jackson.  In 1946 Jackie's family moved to Houston where she graduated from Lamar High School in 1947. For college, she went back to Louisiana and graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette with a degree in education.

In 1952 while on vacation in Texas she met Red Wersterfer at Schwamkrug's Bier Garten in New Braunfels. He swept her off her feet and they were married in August, six weeks later.  After Red's service in the Air Force, they made their home in New Braunfels where they raised their two daughters, Cathy and Cindy.

Jackie taught second grade in New Braunfels, mostly at Seele Elementary School for 18 years. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in New Braunfels.  She was an associate member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT), as well as a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and a docent at the Texas Museum of Handmade Furniture.  As a staunch conservative she was a hardworking member of the New Braunfels Republican Women and spent many hours rolling sausage balls and selling them at their famous Wurstfest booth. Jackie and Red also thoroughly enjoyed sharing time with their many friends at parties held by the Soiree Club.

Jackie is survived by her loving daughter, Cathy Wersterfer of New Braunfels; her brother, Don Jackson of NB; her beloved grandson, Connor Wersterfer of Houston; her nephew, Robert Jackson of Brenham; and many cousins and close friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon (Red) Wersterfer, her daughter, Cynthia Wersterfer, and her parents.

Her funeral will be held at the First United Methodist Church in New Braunfels on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow in the church welcome center. A Visitation will be at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in her name to the First United Methodist Church, Hope Hospice, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or your charity of choice.

Jackie's family appreciated the wonderful care and companionship provided by ComForCare, especially Chad Otte and Irene Iler, and the staff of Hope Hospice.

Jackie wanted everyone to know how grateful she was for her wonderful, happy life.
