Jana "J-Bone"
Meszkat Bounds
Oct 25, 1963 — Mar 2, 2021
Jana "J-Bone" Meszkat Bounds was born to John Meszkat and Joan Hamblen on October 25, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas. She passed from this life surrounded by family and friends at her home on March 2, 2021 at age 57. Jana was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Hamblen, and her mother-in-law & father-in-law, John and Joan Bounds. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom "T-Bone" Bounds; daughter & son-in-law, Jacqueline and David Kolski; father, John Meszkat; sister & brother-in-law, Jamie Meszkat and DeWayne Starnes; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Patty and James Tolbirt; numerous nieces and nephews; exceptionally close friends and many others whose lives she has touched throughout the years.
When she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1997, she dedicated her life to bringing hope and happiness to children suffering from the same disease. Through her and her husband's philanthropic organization, Hope Hits Harder, the Bounds family has been able to improve the life of countless children and their families, raising millions of dollars for programs in San Antonio hospitals. From the organization's inception, Jana has been the mastermind behind their success, and the embodiment of hope in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
But Jana Bounds was so much more than her resume of accomplishments. Jana was a wonderful wife, mother, hostess, philanthropist, sister, and friend. No milestone went uncelebrated in Jana's house, but she never needed a reason to go out of her way to make people feel special. To her final days, Jana embodied the servant's heart that the Lord asks of us. While her family is sad to have lost such a beautiful woman, they feel blessed to have known her for as long as they did, and know that her light will continue to shine through their organization for years to come.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Hope Hits Harder at hopehitsharder.com .
