Janet Mae Moede was born to Rev. Ernest J. Moede and Beata ( Schlec h te ) in Wayne, Nebraska on June 8, 1932 and passed away on April 30, 2023 in Kyle, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, h er brother and sister-in-law , Rev. Arnold P. Moede and Beth Moede, and her niece Molly Retterer .

She grew up in Nebraska and graduated from high school in Gretna in 1950. Her first position as organist was at the age of 12.  She received a Music Degree from St. Olaf College in Northfi eld, MN in 19 54 .

At St. Mathew's Lutheran Church in Charleston, S C , she served as Direc tor of Music and Choir and organist for 9 years. She the n moved back to Minneapolis, MN t o work as staff assistant to the American Lutheran Church Commission on Worship.  She also served as the parish secretary to Mount Olive Lutheran Church , where she was a member for many years . .

An accomplished organist in her own right, she served in a number of congregations and volunteered as a pianist in nursing homes in the area.

She had recently moved to Austin, Texas to be close to her family.

Survivors include her niece Lisa Schultz, and nephews Eric (Peggy) Moede , and Kurt (Lauren) Moede, and several generations of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Ave., Minneapolis, Minnesota 55407. Final resting place will be at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Columbarium following services.
