Obituary

John Gold Boydstun, born December 5th, 1930, in Roswell, New Mexico.  Departed for his heavenly home on May 25, 2024 in New Braunfels, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Vula Boydstun, his brothers George and Benjamin, and his great grandson Raiden Ramos.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Betty Boydstun, his children Beverly Jernigan (Dan), John Boydstun Jr., Linda Wilson (John), and Tracy Buchholz (Ron). His legacy continues through his grandchildren Christopher Wilson, Matthew Wilson, and Brittany Ramos, and his great grandchildren Caitlyn Wilson, Cody Wilson, Connor Wilson, Brooke Wilson, Ames Ramos and Noa Ramos.

John joined the New Mexico Army National Guard at 17 and served both in the National Guard and the US Army Reserve for over forty years, retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer IV.  His distinguished career included assignments at the Pentagon and other significant locations.
After retiring from military service, John pursued his passion for antiques, owning several shops specializing in antique furniture, which he skillfully refinished himself.  He retired from this business in 2023.

John and Betty enjoyed traveling, embarking on numerous cruises that took them to Europe, South America, the Caribbean, and Alaska.  He loved puzzles, dominoes, and card games, and was a devoted deacon in several churches in New Mexico.

John's greatest pride was his family, whom he supported wholeheartedly.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 1, 2024 at 10:00 am at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel, Burial to follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
