Johnnie Floyd Row was born in Seguin, Texas, on August 6, 1935 to W.D. and Edna (Dotson) Row. During his childhood years he lived in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and various South Texas cities. The greater majority was spent in Seguin where he attended Seguin High School. Johnnie passed away on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2025, at the age of 90, with family by his side.

In the early 1950's, Johnnie realized his mechanical abilities while rebuilding his first car, a Model A Roadster he bought for $35. Over the years, he rebuilt nearly 20 cars with his favorite being a '51 Desoto two-door hardtop. Utilizing these skills, Johnnie joined the United States Army on April 22, 1957,initially training in aviation school. He was then stationed at Fort Hamilton in New York, where he inspected helicopters to notify the pilot when it was safe for take-off. While working as a Rotary Wing Aircraft Mechanic he enjoyed his work and had many enjoyable stories of time also spent at Staten Island. After being honorably discharged April 23, 1959, he married his wife Gladys (formerly Hurley) in 1962, who he met while visiting his aunt in Seguin. Gladys' own family home happened to be just across the street from his aunt. After marriage, Johnnie and his own dad, W. D. Row, worked to physically build their new family home.  This same home, in New Braunfels, Texas is where Johnnie and Gladys would stay and raise their three children. Johnnie's thirty-year career was spent at SMI (Structural Metals Incorporated) in Seguin, Texas where he began work in the Maintenance Department and was eventually promoted to Hydraulic Shop Foreman. Much of his very busy retirement was spent with family either at his ranch in Seguin, Texas while tending to cattle or fishing with grandchildren in Rockport, Texas. At his ranch, he seemed to be most at home and he enjoyed the cattle and the serenity a great deal. He mended fences and spent many hours on his tractor enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. He was unique in that he could fix almost anything mechanical. As a father and grandfather, he was always someone you could count on for sound and fair advice on any matter. He was an incredible mentor and a loving family man. Johnnie was an extraordinary man who was well-loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Harvey and Clarence (a.k.a. Buster). He is survived by his wife, Gladys, daughter Audrey (husband Scott, and their daughter Autumn), daughter Sheryl (husband Emilio and their sons Preston and Hayden), and son Patrick (wife Jennifer and their daughter Alex, and their sons Wyatt, Rayder, and Blake). These seven cherished grandchildren all loved their time with Johnnie, who they called Papa.
