My beloved brother, Johnny Ed Oberkampf, 69, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away in San Antonio, Texas September 9, 2026. He was born on March 7, 1957 in New Braunfels to Kendall and Alice (Dischinger) Oberkampf.

He is survived by his sister, Laurie Bauman, nephew, Wendall Bauman III, niece Kendell Bauman and multiple 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins and scores of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kendell and Alice Oberkampf, grandparents Henry and Irma Oberkampf and Eduard and Leonie Dischinger and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Johnny served as an usher at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for over 35 years. He was a long-time member of Mission Valley Bowling Club and served years as a New Braunfels Volunteer Fireman. Just this year he was elected to be on the Mission Valley Community Center Board. Johnny graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1975 and he attended Texas A&M for a few years. Johnny worked for over 25 years for United Parcel Service before retiring.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM in the Funeral Home chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at the church. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or the New Braunfels Volunteer Fire Department.
