Dr. Jose Antonio Lomba Sanchez, age 86, went to be with our Lord on January 24, 2024.

He was born in Puerto Rico to the late Jose Antonio Lomba Arias and Dolores Sanchez Lomba.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosario Davila Lomba, his four children (Joey and Karen, Maria (Charin) and Alex, Lolo and Pierre, Ricky and Michelle and 9 grandchildren (Christina, Joel, Andres, Nicole, Paulina, Alejandro, Rakel, Ian, Gabrielle).

He graduated with honors in 1954 at the age of 17, went to Lora's College in Dubuque, Iowa where he graduated in 2 years, to later attend St. Luis University Dental School in 1960. He graduated at the age of 21 and started his private practice in Puerto Rico. After he had his four children, he did an oral surgery residency at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical School, where he later became clinical faculty.

In 1978 he moved with his family to Houston, Texas to become the head and program director at MD Anderson Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department. In 1984, he moved to Lufkin, Texas and opened his Maxillofacial Surgery private practice, until his retirement in 2013.

He had many accomplishments in his career, including United States Oral Surgery National Board Examiner, invented several pioneered oral surgery procedures, but his pride and joy were his four children, his 9 grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.

Joe loved to fish, hunt, travel and go island hoping in the US and British Virgin Islands. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife Charo and his family who adored him.

Memorial services will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2024

at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas;

followed by a private family burial at Cordi Marian Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
