Joyleen Dodson, 85, passed peacefully from this earth on January 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

A lifelong resident of Comal County, she was born January 22, 1939 to Arlon Seay and Lonie Lux Seay. She grew up on the family ranch, which not only fostered her love of animals but also a strong work ethic that was evident in every endeavor she embarked on.

She graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1957.  Soon after, she embarked on a 35-year career with GVTC, becoming one the Co-op's first female leaders, overseeing everything from Business Operations to Marketing.  While there, she was also heavily involved with the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, serving in a variety of leadership roles, including board President in 1993. She was also hailed as an Unsung Hero by the Canyon Lake Times Guardian in 1992.

After her retirement, she stayed busy, launching a business with her husband Bill and steadfastly serving the community.  She was a founding member and President of the Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country, spearheading their fundraising efforts for several years, including their annual Harvestfest that featured her famous beef stew. She also was a long-time volunteer with Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, was active for several years with the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and served on the board of Comal County United Way.

Despite her busy schedule, Joyleen always enjoyed traveling the world with her dearest friends and spending weekends with family at her cabin on Medina Lake, ensuring everyone was always well-fed.

Those that knew her best will always remember her generous spirit, love of community, and dedication to her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arlon & Lonie Seay, husband Bill Dodson, and brother Dennis Seay.

Joyleen is survived by her daughter Renee Wilson, son-in-law Steve Wilson, granddaughters Andrea Wilson (husband Josh Pope) and Sydney Perry (husband Matt), great-grandchildren James & Archer Pope and Kennedy & Lincoln Perry, sister Kathy Lain, sister-in-law Pam Seay, beloved nieces and nephews Travis Seay (wife Michelle), Brett Lain (wife Miranda), Julie Seay, and Kent Lain (wife Paula); and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Monday January 20, 2025, followed by an interment at Holy Cross Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
