Judith "Judy"
Gay Serene Janney
Aug 7, 1942 — Apr 29, 2026
Judith "Judy" Gay Serene Janney was born on August 7, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to Nell Rose and Eugene Serene Sr. She passed peacefully on April 29, 2026 with her brother, Gene Serene and his wife Cindy present, two people she dearly loved.
Judy was a proud 1960 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Texas. After high school she worked at USAA until she met the love of her life, Stanley T. Janney, who worked at San Antonio City Public Service. They were married for 27 wonderful years until Stanley's passing in 1994. Their years together were defined by traveling and hard work.
When they moved to La Vernia, Texas from San Antonio they started raising rabbits as a hobby, which turned in to a business which became known as S & J Rabbitry. They raised and showed rabbits and mentored kids who had 4-H Rabbit Projects. She and Stan were Life Members of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, through which they specialized in raising and showing Dwarf rabbit breed across the state of Texas. During their years of showing Dwarf rabbits they won many Dwarf Breed Championships and in 1978 were recognized as the Texas Rabbit Breeder Association's Breeder of the Year.
After Stan's passing in 1994 Judy became interested in Genealogy and began researching her and Stan's family history in order to find their family "roots". Genealogy then became her focus and PASSION until she passed.
Judy moved from La Vernia to New Braunfels in 2013 and selected EdenHill as her new home, a place she dearly loved. At EdenHill she played volleyball and loved adult coloring. She made many new friends which she deeply cherished.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley and her parents Nell Rose Serene and Eugene Serene Sr.
She is survived by her Brother Eugene "Gene" Serene and his wife Cindy; her nephews Michael Serene and wife Ashley and David Serene and wife Jennifer and their children Matthew and Rachel; Cousins Fred Serene and wife Toni; Jan Serene and wife Betty; Mary Alice Serene Langham and husband Robert; and Antoinette Serene and numerous other cousins.
Judy's interment will be at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas with her Husband who was a Naval Veteran.
A memorial service celebrating Judy's life will be held at a later date.
