Judith "Judie" Lynn Yates Hill was born on October 11, 1950, in San Angelo, Texas, to Harold Yates and Delphine Lively Yates and passed from this life on September 1, 2025.

Judie grew up in different towns in Texas during her childhood and then graduated from Cedar Cliff High School in Pennsylvania in 1969. She went on to attend Abilene Christian College, graduating in 1973 with a degree in education. During her freshman year of college, she met the love of her life, Jick Hill, and their 48-year adventure together began. They married in 1974 and soon moved to Irving, Texas, while Jick pursued dentistry at Baylor College and Judie taught elementary school. Upon graduation, Jick served in the Air Force, taking them to Phoenix, Arizona. Their first daughter, Jendi Lyn, was born soon after in 1978. The family later settled in Midland, Texas, where Jick opened his dental practice and their second daughter, Jacy Leigh, was born in 1979.

In 1989, the Hills relocated to the Houston area, where Jick attended law school. There, the girls grew up and graduated from high school while Judie ran the household and spent her time with her most favorite group of friends playing tennis. Once her girls were grown, she returned to teaching elementary school even earning the honor of a nomination for Teacher of the Year.

In 2009, Judie and Jick moved to Tuscola, Texas, where they enjoyed retired living. She cherished this season of life, spending time with the grandchildren and following her passion for service by working with the nonprofit company, Eternal Threads. This work sparked her love of travel, taking her to Nepal, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Germany, and beyond.

After 42 years of marriage, Jick passed away in 2017 and Judie made the move to New Braunfels. She devoted her days to all six of her grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and all their various activities. This was her greatest joy. Known affectionately as "Shorty" and "Shudie," she was a constant presence in their lives, cheering them on from the stands with her cowbell in hand.

Even after a car accident in 2024 slowed her physically, Judie's spirit continued to grow brighter. She filled her time with beach trips, Smithson Valley football games, Brewer High School drill team performances, trips with her group of girlfriends and with her lifelong friend, Theresa as well as adventures with her sister, Joan. She treasured family March Madness drafts, decorating her home for the various seasons and holidays, "junkin" trips, and every moment that allowed her to be fully present with those she loved.

Judie will be remembered as the life of the party—adventurous, vivacious, and completely devoted to her family. She followed the fun. To know Judie was to love her, and her radiant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of calling her family or friend.

She was one of a kind—our forever Shorty.

Judie is survived by her daughter, Jendi Haug, and her husband, Chad, of New Braunfels, along with their children Hunter, Braelyn, Grayson, and Hope Maxine. She is also survived by her daughter, Jacy Hill, of Fort Worth, and her son, Jakson and his wife, Makaylah, with their children Ruby and Landon, and her daughter Blakely. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Joan, and her husband, Don, of Tuscola, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels, Texas.
