Judith "Judy" Marie DeGolier was woman who meant so many different things to so many different people: a mother, a grandmother, a nurse, a protector, a fighter, and a woman whose faith helped guide her through every season of her life.
She passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas.

Judy was born to Norbert and Dolores (Miller) Stadther on May 12, 1941 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She graduated as an x-ray technologist after high school and began working in the hospital while her high school sweetheart, Denny, completed his time in the Navy. They were married on June 2, 1962.

They were soon blessed with their first children, Paul and Mike while they were living in St. Cloud. After Denny graduated with his college degree in accounting, they moved to Saint Paul and there Mary and John were born, completing their family.
Judy's life was full with family, friends, work, and most importantly her faith. Her faith shaped her sense of right and wrong, her belief in compassion, and her commitment for caring for others.  Her life was an example of living out faith, not just on Sundays, but in everyday actions.

While working full-time and raising four children, she decided she wasn't busy enough, so in 1972 she joined the Roseville Mrs. JC's.  She held many leadership positions during her very active five years. In her final year, she was elected president. During that year, she organized many monthly activities for the Linnea Home (nursing home) which included: bingo, hair salon appointments, card playing, and various outings around the city. She planned a few fundraisers, including a style show, a softball tournament, a bridge marathon, and sold T-shirts. She also planned a huge carnival in their backyard raising money for the Ronald McDonald house. During the 1970s, she also seemed to find some free time to refinish many pieces of furniture, including an upright piano, a Lane Chest and numerous tables. All four of her children learned how to play on that very piano.

In the mid 70s, while working full-time and continuing to be available for her children, Judy began nursing school. She was a pioneer in her profession. She helped establish hospice care after graduation, creating comfort and dignity for people in their final moments and for the families navigating unimaginable loss.

In July 1981, Judy's family moved to Austin, Texas, where she played a key role in founding a home health agency, American Nursing Resources. After several years in home healthcare, she transitioned to St. David's Hospital, working in the special procedures department. Later, seeking a change of pace, she concluded her nursing career at the Travis County Jail. She found the experience rewarding and appreciated the respect she received from the inmates she cared for.

One of her favorite activities was playing bridge. Over the years, she was part of many different groups and truly enjoyed the time she spent with her fellow players. She taught us that it's important to sit down and enjoy the little things in life.

At 84 years old, she leaves behind a legacy not just of years lived, but of lives shaped. The care she gave, the boundaries she held, the love she fought for and those things ripple forward through all of us. We grieve her absence, but we also trust in the hope she believed in: that death is not the end, but a return home. We imagine her now at peace, embraced by the love of God she trusted throughout her life.

Judy loved deeply, lived with conviction, protected fiercely, and believed faithfully.
She will never truly be gone as long as we continue to carry her strength, her love, and her faith within us.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Diane Drexler, and her brother Tom Stadther.
She is survived by her children: Paul (Donna), Michael (Debbie), Mary (Scott), and John (Traci); as well as her grandchildren Karl, Amber, Thomas, Jack, Sarah, Andrew, and Logan. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

Judy's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Austin, Texas on May 15, 2026 at 10am. It will be preceded by a visitation at 9am in the Church. She will be laid to rest at Remembrance Memorial Gardens directly following the Mass.
