Judith Marie Mueck Kostroun of Canyon Lake, Tx passed away Sunday, December 18th at the age of 76 surrounded by her family following a brave 23 year battle with breast cancer. She was born in Cameron, TX on December 17, 1946 to Joe Mueck and Gertrude Schreiber Mueck. She graduated from Yoe High School in Cameron, TX in 1964. She attained her RN from McLennan Community College in Waco, TX in 1973. Judy was employed as an RN at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital in Waco, TX until 1995. She then moved to Canyon Lake and become employed at McKenna Hospital in New Braunfels, TX. She retired from Christus Santa Rosa with 17 years of service in 2010. She was active in the following church ministries Helping Hands and the Cancer Support Group. She also participated yearly in Relay for Life for Comal County. Judy loved to craft. She had documented all her travels and life events in numerous scrapbooks. Over the years she also made several quilts. She also loved to go camping and fishing. Many weekends were spent at the lake enjoying the summers when her children were young. She continued camping with family members on a yearly spring break trip where many of her siblings and children would attend.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents Joe Mueck and Gertrude Mueck and brother Jerry Mueck.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Phillip. 4 children, daughter Renee Wilson (Kelly) of Houston, son, Wayne Kostroun (Lorraine) of San Antonio, daughter Karen Loiacano (Joe) of Waco, Tx and daughter, Tricia Chen (Franklin) of Austin. Grandchildren: Tyler & Tatum Wilson; Reid & Sophie Kostroun; Katelyn Wilkins, Marissa Dixon, Elaina & Joey Loiacano and Jocelyn Chen. Great grandchild Jaxon Birch. Siblings Joe (Charlotte), Jane (Johnnie Marek), Martin (Vicki), Dennis (Kennetha), and Larry (Renee). She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, followed by a rosary at 2:00 PM at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church at Canyon Lake, Tx. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. A celebration of life and funeral mass will follow at 2:30 PM.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. Monicas Catholic church cemetery in Cameron, Tx.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the building fund at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
