June Therese Holubitsky

June Therese was born March 29, 1931 to Harry A. Kostash and Josephine Siska Kostash in Mundare, Alberta, Canada.  She left this earth after 92 years, on January 12, 2024.

June earned a diploma in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto after studying their curriculum for 12 years.  As an advanced pianist, she could play anything, and music and singing remained important to her throughout her life.   June earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major and minor in Physics and Chemistry from the University of Alberta. She was hired by Geophysical Associates of Canada and worked in Peace River, Alberta. In the 1950's, June was a pioneer for women in the seismograph industry, with her job title being "The Computer". She was transferred to Houston, TX as a geophysicist, where she met Archie Ladshaw.  They were married and worked in Wyoming and New Mexico before starting their own company, Ladshaw Explosives, Inc.

June and Archie moved their family to New Braunfels in 1964. They were also involved with Ladshaw-Miller Development Company in Garden Ridge, and were  major stockholders of Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX. until early 1980's.  June and Archie divorced in 1979 and she returned to Canada.

June married childhood friend, Myron Holubitsky, and they lived in Vancouver, British Columbia for 25 years, until his death. June moved back to New Braunfels to be close to her children.

June was intelligent and very witty.  She also had a scary side. Cousins and friends who happened to get too rowdy with her children will remember the fear when she would suddenly appear in the doorway with the dreaded wooden spoon.

June lived a full life and enjoyed traveling, wining, dining, and playing the piano for her children.  She will be remembered in her younger days for entertaining, excellent cooking, and elegant parties. She passed along to her children her Ukrainian heritage, traditions, food and songs. She loved playing golf at Landa Park, and encouraged her daughters to play. Later in life, she enjoyed crosswords, feeding and watching birds and squirrels, and continued to sing until her final days.

June was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Louise Kostash, her step son, Ronald "Tone" Ladshaw, and her beloved husband, Myron.

Our Junie is survived by her three children; John Ladshaw (Liz), Theresa Ladshaw Davis (Larry), and Andrea Ladshaw McBride (Christopher). She is survived by five grand- children: Genie Ladshaw Eubanks (Weiss), Andrew Ladshaw (Kristyn), Jesse Ladshaw Trevino, Elliott McBride, and Phoebe McBride; and one great-granddaughter, Kinsley Ladshaw.

June is also survived by her loving step-children; Judy Ladshaw Taylor (Lee and daughters, Zen, Aspen and Leeah and families), Jeff Holubitsky (Kathy), step grandsons, Max and Paul Holubitsky and families. June also leaves behind her nephew by marriage, John Matheson (Sandi and family).

June's family would like to thank everyone at Gruene Senior Living and Memory Care for taking care of her for 12 years. We would also like to thank the wonderful and caring people at Brookdale New Braunfels and Hope Hospice for caring for her during her final year.  We especially want to thank Ruben Dietz of Brookdale for figuring out how to get June to play a couple of tunes on the piano- something she hadn't done for over 40  years after a seizure and coma.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, with a Rosary following at 6:30 PM in the funeral home chapel.  A private graveside will be on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels.
