On Saturday Feb. 27, 2021 Keith Cornell Wenzel 65, passed away from a sudden and unexpected heart attack and entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born to Hilmar G. and Elaine O. Wenzel.  Keith was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Adam Reyes. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Barbara Bees Wenzel; son, Jason (Kayla) Wenzel; sister, Roxann Reyes; sister-in-law, Sharon Kortz (Scott); brother-in-law, Nolan Bees, Jr. (Lynn), also his grandchildren, Lorelei, Axel and Truly Wenzel.

Keith was born in Seguin, TX and raised in New Braunfels, TX to a German family who enjoyed traditions making sausage, jerky, sauerkraut, and panas. He took pride in those traditions. Like his father, he too took pride in his patriotism. He enjoyed the time spent with his son restoring his old pickup trucks and loved hanging with friends at the Swap Meets and auto part stores. He often called and visited with his awesome mechanic friends whom he and his son appreciated. He always looked forward to chatting with friends at the fairgrounds or on his porch.

Keith was known by most during his work career of food delivery. He worked for Canteen Corp., Deli Express, Frito Lay, and Mrs. Baird's Bakery, where he later became an owner/operator of his own route. Taking care of the stores he delivered to was a huge priority to him. In October 2017, Keith became the driver for the New Braunfels Food Bank. This was his most favorite job by far. He loved being able to serve our community in such a rewarding way. Every day he would come home with such amazing stories of how generous the donations would be, donated by our local businesses. He worked 10 days straight up until the day he got his wings. He was totally dedicated to helping our community.

Keith was a giving man. He loved people. Everyone that knew him, knew Keith loved to talk! He always had a story to tell. His contagious laughter could be heard from a few aisles away in any store. It was the most unique laugh :) He will be missed by family and friends so much. He knew so much history about New Braunfels and Comal County. Those stories and facts have gone with him. Keith left us all with many memories and those that share Keith's faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16) shall be saved and see him again one day in heaven.

Visitation will be held on Friday March 12, from 5-7 pm at funeral home chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday March 13, 2021 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Keith's honor to the New Braunfels Food Bank.
