Kenneth "Ken" Eugene Burnett, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and veteran passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 82.

Ken was born on October 11, 1942, in Worthington, Minnesota, and spent his formative years in Marshalltown, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years, with assignments both stateside and across Asia, where he developed a lifelong love of aviation and exploration.

A brilliant and self-taught computer programmer, Ken worked for Halliburton for 45 years, including the final 15 years as a consultant. He brought a deep sense of curiosity and problem-solving to his work, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues across the industry.

Ken was a proud father of four children—Kyle, Kendra, Allison, and Ryan—and later delighted in becoming a grandfather, "Gramps," to nine: Connor, Kyra, Emily, Kristen, Carter, Will, Jane, Boone, and Beck.

He and Ann, his wife of 49 years, traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, creating lasting memories together. Of Irish descent, Ken felt a special connection to Ireland, where he took great joy in tracing his ancestral roots and soaking in the culture and landscapes of his heritage.

Ken was a man of many passions—a licensed private pilot, a lifelong admirer of airplanes, classic cars, music, and travel. He took great pride in his lovingly maintained '54 Chrysler and Mercedes SL550. With his remarkable ability to fix nearly anything, Ken was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Ken was a man of quiet strength, unwavering honesty, and deep contentment. He lived a simple, grounded life - steadfast, reliable, and full of wisdom. His steady presence, dry humor, and thoughtful nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His legacy endures through his family and the many lives he touched with his integrity and love.

A memorial service to honor Ken's life will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd at Gruene United Methodist Church (2629 East Common Street, New Braunfels, TX). Visitation for family and friends will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., providing an opportunity to gather, share memories, and celebrate his life prior to the service, which will begin at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken's memory to SOS Food Pantry, 256 W. Merriweather St., New Braunfels.
