Laura Elizabeth Meadows Rayburn died on September 21, 2024, in New Braunfels, Texas. Above all, Laura will be remembered for her joyfulness and absolute love of God, her family, and her friends. She was a devoted and cherished daughter, beloved sister and mother, and unwavering friend.

She is survived by her children, Amanda Margaret Rayburn and Rachel Elizabeth Rayburn, her parents, Thomas and Shirley Meadows, sister Alice Meadows and husband, John Patterson, brother Ted Meadows and wife, Charlene Tengler, nieces, Mikayla Ollie, Sarah and Claire Patterson, nephew Jack Patterson, her dear aunts and uncles, and numerous well-loved cousins.

Laura was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 28, 1967. She attended the University of Texas graduating with a BBA, and later received her MBA from Southern Methodist University while simultaneously working at Geico Insurance in Dallas. A couple of years after Amanda arrived, she and her husband, Michael Rayburn, moved to San Antonio where Rachel was born. When both girls were older, she moved with them to New Braunfels, just a mile from her parents.

Her life in New Braunfels was full of family, faith, and friends. She was an adored and active member of Christ Our King Anglican Church where she taught Sunday School for ten years, retiring from that position just this year. She worked several different jobs in the area, most recently among some of her favorite coworkers ever at New Braunfels Regional Rehabilitation Hospital.

Laura truly loved her friends and had so many from every part of her life. Deeply warm and caring, she didn't know a stranger. She was gifted in her ability to make every person feel their importance and uniqueness, and she almost always did this through humor. For so many of us, she was the funniest person we've ever known.

Family meant everything to Laura. Whether sharing stories and memories over cards and games, making everyone's favorite food during holidays, and any time spent together under the trees at the river house; always laughing, especially with her brother and sister. She loved her parents dearly and was blessed to live close enough to be able to stop by almost daily for meals, to watch football games, or just to say hello.

Above all else, Laura cherished her role as mother to her two beautiful and beloved girls. She was so proud of every one of their accomplishments big and small, delighted in their silliness, held them close, and cheered them on. She fiercely believed in all they would become, and the lives they would – and had begun – to lead.

Her immense joy, laughter, and light-filled presence will be deeply missed by both friends and family, and all who were lucky enough to have known her.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Christ Our King Anglican Church in New Braunfels, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Laura Rayburn may be made to the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area.
