Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the news of Leola Faye Gallion's passing in her home at the age of 91 in New Braunfels, Texas on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born to Helery Carl and Eva Higginbotham O'Bar on Friday, November 9, 1934, in Belmont, Texas, Leola led a life filled with kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her community.

Throughout her years, Leola was a vibrant presence, always ready to lend a helping hand. She was deeply involved as a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) Ladies Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star in New Braunfels. Whether she was serving hamburgers at the Comal County Fair in the FOE booth, volunteering at the Senior Citizens Thrift Store, or simply assisting someone in need, her actions brought comfort and joy to those around her.

Faye, as her close friends called her, cherished the friendships she formed with the remarkable women she met, sharing laughter and camaraderie over countless games of dominoes and cards. Her love for gardening and her talent for preparing delicious southern-style comfort food were just a few of the ways she brought people together, creating lasting memories at every gathering.

As we reflect on Leola's extraordinary journey, we hold dear the memories of her beloved husband, Wayne A. Gallion, and her cherished granddaughter, Shi Ann (Gallion) Perry. Their presence remains alive in our hearts.

Leola's legacy continues through her devoted family: her son, Donald Wayne Gallion and wife Suzan; her son, Terry Lynn Gallion, and wife Tina; her daughter, Kathy Jo Gallion, and partner Gayle; and her son, David Allen Gallion, and wife Beverly. She was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and all of whom, affectionately called her Mammaw.

Her extended family includes grandchildren, Charles Perry and wife Laura, April (Gallion) Mullins and husband James,  Donald Wayne Gallion Jr., David Gallion Jr. and partner, Rachel Villanueva, Michael Gallion and wife Candice; Great-Grandchildren, Kirstin Perry, Taylor Marshall and husband Tyler, Alexandra Mays, Haley Mullins, Alec Mullins, Courtney Gallion, Leslie Villanueva, Kaydence Marie Gallion, Fisher Wayne Gallion, Gracelynn June Gallion, Riley Quinn Gallion, Julie Kate Gallion, and a Great-Great-Grandchild, John Charles Tillinghast.

Leola's warmth, caring nature, and fun-loving spirit touched so many lives. As we come together to honor her memory and share our stories, may we find comfort in each other and embrace the inspiration of her loving legacy. With heartfelt remembrance and gratitude for the life she lived and the love she gave.

There will be a memorial graveside service held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 10:00 am at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels.
