Lewis P. Sarkozi, Jr. passed away on August 28, 2026 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 88.  He was born on January 25, 1938 in Washington, DC to Lewis P. Sarkozi, Sr. & Margaret (Wright) Sarkozi.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, his 3 brothers, his youngest son, Robert P. Sarkozi, and his loving wife of 65-years, Veronica (Bonnie) Sarkozi.

He is survived by his sister, Jeanette Sarkozi; son, David Sarkozi (wife, Donna); daughter, Cathy Honeywell (husband, Doug); granddaughters, Libby Buck (husband, Josh Baker) and Abby Terrazas (husband, Phil);  and great-grandson, Remy Terrazas.

Lewis grew up in Maryland and Virginia and graduated from Spotsylvania High School in 1956.  He joined the Air Force which led him to Texas, where he met Bonnie.  They married in Texas before moving to a dairy farm in Virginia.  Lewis had a fondness for his agricultural life and dairy cows.  But when David was born, followed a year later by Cathy, Lewis and Bonnie left the dairy farm and moved to New Braunfels, Texas where Lewis worked for his father-in-law distributing candy and cigarettes to stores and restaurants.  Later, he worked as an industrial lubricant salesman, a school bus driver, a sports car salesman, and a mechanic.

Lewis once described himself as a "pursuer of life".  He worked hard to support his family but had many interests and spent his life learning and changing.  He fell into acting and realized he loved it.  After retirement, he pursued his acting career, appearing in movies and  commercials.  While he was waiting between auditions, he started writing.  Lewis closed his last chapter of life as a writer, finishing 2 books and working on a third – always working on plots and refining  his writing skills.

One of Lewis' favorite roles was as grandfather to Libby and Abby. In 1996, he wrote:

"It's good that Abby just needs to be held a little now and then, because Libby is teaching me real fast what my job is. A Grandpa's job is to teach and learn about loving, sharing, laughter and stimulating the imagination by telling wild tales and stories.

When we go to visit and I don't come in right away, Libby will ask "where's Grandpa?" Then, we will go see her room.  I always sit on the floor …we play until it's time to read a book or two. Then, she takes a nap and I am finally allowed to leave and get a cup of coffee or a coke.

One day in the future when the family is all together and the meal is being put on the table, and I will have gone outside to stretch my tired old muscles, some young lady will look around and say, "where's Grandpa?" and that will be nice."

We no longer have to ask "where's Grandpa?" as he is with all of us day-to-day. He is with us in our desire to keep learning, our storytelling skills, our humor and our playfulness. He's in each cup of black coffee and glass of red wine, in scribbled notebooks, mystery thrillers, and the deer and birds he watched over. We see him each time we enjoy a family dinner and get down on the floor to play with his great-grandson Remy. As multi-faceted as Lewis was, he is always with us. We are so grateful.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park Gazebo in New Braunfels, Texas.
