Linda Jean Chappell was born to Clarence "Cotton" O'Neal & Margaret Mae (Goeken) Ellis on September 14, 1935 in Soper, Oklahoma.

She passed from this life surrounded by her loving family on December 12, 2022 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 87.   Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Steven Chappell.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Chappell of Canyon Lake; sister, Deanna Sternberg & husband, Louis; children, Sherry Schneider & husband, Lynn of Fischer, Chris Chappell & wife, Debbie of Canyon Lake, Bonnie Hoffmann & husband, Michael of Cuero and Robert Chappell & wife, Lisa of Canyon Lake; grandchildren, Ryan Schneider & wife, Emily, Reagan Schneider & wife, Shannon, Amber Galvan & husband, Hector, Ashley Timmerman & husband, Jason, Austin Chappell & wife, Victoria, Chelsea McClendon & husband, Woody, Tanner Hoffmann & wife a'Lisa, Logan Chappell & wife, Ashlea, Avery Chappell, Connor Chappell, Sierra Ramsey, Kris Saladino and Jahn Cella; 22 great-grandchildren and numerous other additional relatives and dear friends.

At an early age, Linda and her parents, Clarence (Cotton) Ellis and Margaret Ellis, moved to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and settled in Pharr, Texas. Linda graduated from Pharr - San Juan- Alamo high school where she was in the drill team called the Bearettes. She met her future husband, Ralph Chappell, at a local root beer stand called The Dairy King. That began a courtship of about 2 years and a marriage of almost 70 years.

Linda loved her children and grand kids and rarely missed any school event they were part of, even if it meant going to Hawaii for her grandson's football game. Linda loved to cook especially for her family. Christmas at her house was an endless procession of gift unwrapping and delicious meals. She loved to also travel. She went on over 30 ocean cruises with family and friends. She and Ralph drug their RV through 30 plus states and weeks of camping in the great United States. Linda was an involved member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon Lake.

To say she loved her 5 kids would be a gross understatement. Possibly the biggest tragedy of her life was the death of her oldest, Stevie, after a lengthy exhausting illness. Her last words on this Earth were to Ralph when she said I love you.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Canyon Lake, Texas.  A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ernest Nagy officiating.  A Procession will follow the funeral to Fischer Cemetery in Fischer, Texas.
