Mary Lucille (Cille) Hardy died August 1, 2021 spending the last days of her life in her beloved home in Canyon Lake in the presence of loving family and friends.

Cille was born July 8, 1928 in McGregor, Texas and spent most of her adult life in Houston with her husband of 59 years, Robert L. Hardy, who preceded her in death in 2009. Also preceding her in death were her sister Dorothy McCarty and brother Wynne Matthews.

Bob and Cille began their retirement adventure in an Airstream trailer and a trip from Houston through the Southwest and up the coast to Vancouver, Canada. After moving  to Canyon Lake in 1989, they found that 15 months in the Airstream with three cats was long enough and they bought their dream home. They had always delighted in caring for and entertaining their grandchildren and grandnephew and now hosted weekend and holiday parties for extended family where good fun, good food, and pool volleyball created treasured memories. They were longtime active members of St. Francis by the Lake Episcopal Church.

Cille loved gardening, swimming, collecting, and cats (not necessarily in that order). The first word people used to describe her was usually "sweet," although she frequently employed a wicked dry humor. She was known for extending a hand, and was trusted to help without judgment.  As an empty nester, Cille chose to return to college to work in occupational therapy.

Cille is survived by son James Hardy and wife Molly of San Antonio; son Steve Hardy of Diamondhead, MS; daughter Marion Hardy Ovies and husband Carlos of Houston; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family thanks the staff at Eden Hill, New Braunfels, for years of loving care and also Hope Hospice for their support. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis by the Lake at Canyon Lake, Texas.
