Mary Dell
Heitkamp
Jul 8, 1944 — Jan 5, 2026
Mary Dell Heitkamp, age 81, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her children. She is now rejoicing as she is reunited in Heaven with those who were waiting to welcome her home.
Mary Dell was born on July 8, 1944, in San Antonio and spent her youth in Center Point. Much of her adult life was spent in New Braunfels, where she raised her family, while commuting to Austin for nearly 20 years to work for the Department of Health and Human Services.
Her life revolved around her children. At times, she worked two jobs to ensure they never missed an opportunity to participate in activities they loved. Mary Dell made friends wherever she went, often placing herself right in the middle of the action. She had a gift for making people laugh and always made sure those around her were having a good time.
Her favorite pastime was being with family, and when that wasn't possible, she happily settled in for long phone conversations with the people she loved most. Connection, laughter, and love were at the heart of everything she did.
Mary Dell was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Fannie Morrow; her sisters, Clara Heimer and Patsy Reid; her brother, Teddy Morrow; and her beloved grandson, Jorden Heitkamp.
She is survived by her children, Troy Heitkamp, Amber Heitkamp, and Kyle Heitkamp and his wife, Nicole; and her treasured granddaughter, Haisley Heitkamp.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at
First Protestant Church, 172 W. Coll Street, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
