Mary C. Lopez, age 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 3, 2024, in New Braunfels, Texas. Born on February 2, 1949, to parents Paulito Trejo and Hortencia Villarreal Trejo, Mary's vibrant spirit touched many lives throughout her journey.

During her youth, Mary cherished moments spent gambling with her mother and siblings and dancing as a proud member of the New Braunfels High School dance team, graduating with the class of 1967.

Her professional career spanned over decades, beginning at McKenna Memorial Hospital where she worked for 23 years, ascending from a cook to the esteemed position of Nutritional Service Supervisor. Mary continued her dedication in various nursing homes in Austin, thriving as an Activity Director.  She received two associate degrees at San Antonio College and Austin Community College.

Mary found immense joy in her faith, bingo nights, and enthusiastically cheering on her grandchildren in their football, volleyball, and gymnastics pursuits. Her love for music, especially the songs by Jay Perez, filled her life with rhythm and laughter, often taking center stage with her infectious energy.

Devoted to family, Mary's world revolved around her children Cynthia, Belinda, Glenda, and Reyes Jr., and later expanded with the arrival of her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved celebrating during the holidays and always had a huge smile on her face when surrounded by family.

In her final years, Mary found solace and companionship with her younger sister Marie Trejo. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years, Marie came home and took care of her loved ones, including Mary, when they needed her support the most. For that, we are forever grateful.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Reyes Lopez Sr., brothers Sipriano "Sip" Trejo and David Villarreal, Sr., and loyal companion Marley, Mary's legacy of love and laughter lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Mary is survived by her four children, Cynthia Munoz (Jimmy Sr.), Belinda Bates (Justin), Glenda Lopez (Mark West), and Reyes Lopez, Jr. (Jackie); siblings, Marie Trejo, Rosa Torres (Marcos), and Eusebio "Chevo" Trejo; grandchildren, Jimmy Jr. (Whitney), Julissa, Jasmine (Almalynn), Raelyn, Dylan, Brooklyn, and Bruno; great-grandchildren, JJ, Raeign, Eric Jr., and Jaylon Ray; along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2024,

at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas.

Graveside Service & Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024, at

Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in New Braunfels.
